What is your paddle of choice?
Viking Ozone Pro
How long have you been playing paddle?
What is your favorite part of playing paddle?
Working with my partner to figure out how to win more points. It doesn’t always work, and even if we figure something out, it doesn’t necessarily make a difference in the outcome of a match, but it’s always fun to think about. Drinking a post-match beer is pretty satisfying too.
Your greatest paddle strength?
What is your best paddle memory?
1. Winning back-to-back WPPTA Division 1 Playoff Championships with my teammates at Fox Chapel Golf Club in 2015 and 2016.
2. Playing with Casey Watt in his first match in the WPPTA. We played against a strong, veteran team at Line 2 in Division 1. We lost the first set 0-6 pretty quickly, but we ended up winning. It was crazy how much Casey improved within the match.
3. Playing with Jeremy McClelland in a tournament in New Jersey. Jeremy hit a forehand return so hard and so early that it smacked the server’s foot as he was finishing his motion and stepping into the court. It took a second to figure out what happened, but then we all just started laughing.
What do you enjoy when you’re not playing paddle?
I spend time with my three children, I play golf, and I like them French-fried potatoes. Mm-hmm.
Do you have any pre-match rituals?
I eat chicken before every match.
What advice would you give to beginners?
Use protective eyewear. Oh, and I thought of a paddle strength, I am great at choosing strong playing partners
