Our friends at the Cleveland Platform Tennis Foundation (CPTF) are in the final stages of
fundraising for their new Flats Platform Tennis Facility. This new four-court facility is intended
to grow the game by being the city's first and only paddle courts built specifically for public
access.
(You may have read about this project in the February/March 2021 issue of Platform Tennis
Magazine, where it was the cover story.)
Construction of the courts is already underway, but they need one last financial push to get
their hut built. This is especially important for these folks because the hut will do double duty
as a classroom during their Youth Mentoring Program.
This after-school program for middle and high school students from across Cleveland will
connect students with volunteer mentors to learn the game, improve study habits and build
valuable life skills such as teamwork, discipline and sportsmanship.Â
Clearly, this is a worthy cause, and something I hope members of the PGH Paddle Community will want to support.
To incentivize your support, the CPTF (a non-profit organization) has created an online raffle
with the Grand Prize being a paddle-centric weekend in Paddle Paradise (Cleveland). Check out
the Grand Prize Package:
two night’s accommodations for two at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel (includes a bottle of wine, valet parking, and $25 in the hotel restaurant)
a private lesson with multiple Grand Prix champion Alex Bancila
a new Viking paddle of your choice
dinner for two at the Great Lakes Brewing Company
two tickets to an Indians game (if they’re in town)
a 12-month family membership at the Flats Platform Tennis Center
a weekend full of paddle in the Flats
lots of Cleveland paddle and Viking swag
other fun CLE-related goodies
Second prize is a new Viking paddle of your choice. Third Prize is two tickets to an Indians home game. (Note--the prize does not include transportation to Cleveland, but the organizers are promising to deliver a good time once you get there.)
Our Cleveland brothers and sisters need a hand. Let's show them that the PGH Paddle
Community is there for them. And if one of us wins the Grand Prize, we can show 'em how we play the game in The Burgh!
Tickets are $50 for ten chances and $100 for thirty chances.
